Meet the Director of Choirs
Mrs. Cheryl Brooks
Director of Choir, Orange High
Performing Arts Department Chair
Cherie Brooks is so pleased to be the first Olentangy Orange High School Choral Director. She has taught here since the school opened in 2008 – this is her 13th year at Orange! She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from West Chester University in West Chester, Pennsylvania, where she focused her studies on piano performance and choral education. She also has a Master’s Degree in Music Education from the Pennsylvania State University in State College, Pennsylvania where she continued her focus on the piano and voice while researching music’s relation to the multiple intelligences.
Mrs. Brooks has taught in the Keystone Central School District in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, the Zanesville City School District in Zanesville, Ohio, and most recently in the Delaware City School District in Delaware, Ohio. She is an active member of the Ohio Music Education Association, and has taken many groups to adjudicated events and consistently received superior ratings.. Mrs. Brooks directs all the Orange Choirs, including Vocal Point, OMG, Varsity Singers, Above the Noise, and Revolution. Above the Noise has made it into the semi-finals in Varsity Vocals for three years running, and the Revolution Show Choir consistently places in the top 6 at competitions, making finals and putting on memorable shows.
Mrs. Brooks is the Music Director of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Upper Arlington, where she also directs the Chancel Choir. She resides with her family in Columbus, and loves to bike ride and garden. Her wife, Loni, and daughter, Sydney, are two of Orange Choir's biggest fans!
